Welcome to the Boot Camp on Leadership Fundamentals for Physicians

A comprehensive orientation to physician leadership in hospitals and health systems.

Each year hospitals and health systems nationwide welcome thousands of physicians as leaders in their ranks–committee chairs, task force leaders, section heads, department chairs, division chiefs, and the like. However, 70 percent of executives report they do little (if anything) to prepare physicians for these roles. The Boot Camp on Leadership Fundamentals is designed to address this need, integrating lecture, case-based training, simulations, and experiential learning to deliver the specific information, skills, and tools that are critical for leadership success.

Since its inception, senior executives and physician leaders from hospitals and health systems nationwide have hailed the Boot Camp on Leadership Fundamentals as a superb learning experience. Said one Chief Medical Officer, “This was the best learning experience I’ve had in 10 years!” Another participant reported that the Boot Camp caused a "paradigm shift" in how doctors think about hospitals and their functions. 88% of past graduates have given the program an overall rating of "excellent".
